Tavern Chic
Maybe high fashion isn’t the first thing you picture when thinking about Lark Tavern, but nevertheless, the popular neighborhood bar was the venue for a huge community fashion show last Thursday night. Clothes, jewelry, bags and accessories were selected to represent area artists, vendors and designers. The models were taken straight from the community, too—for example, some models were collected from local bands (pictured, right, is Jesse Pellerin of Kitty Little) and area restaurants servers. One featured designer, Tommy Watkins (best-known around these parts as cofounder of the Albany Underground Artists), debuted from his new men’s clothing line (pictured, left, on models Tom Templeton and Justin Steinbruchel). To open the show, Katie McKerell did a three-song set, and then cabaret girls The Lipstick Lovelies performed a preview set for their July appearance at the Lark Tavern (watch out for more information about that show in our calendar pages). Lark Tavern owner Tess Collins says that the event will take place bimonthly. For more information or to get involved, call Lark Tavern at 463-9779.
