More than 1,000 people attended ``The Bank Show,'' Thursday night's art happening held in the lobby of the shuttered Home Savings Bank building in downtown Albany.
The event was organized by the group Albany Underground Artists, which previously organized one-night-only exhibits in a clothing store and a defunct bakery, both on Lark Street. An encore presentation of the show will be offered from noon to 3 p.m. today. The Home Savings Bank is located at 11 N. Pearl St. Admission is free.
According to artist Tommy Watkins, one of the organizers of the event, 13 pieces of art sold Thursday evening; the average price for art on display was $300.
The show features approximately 80 paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures by more than two dozen local artists. Several art installations were set up inside the bank's vault and executive office suites.
